As an attorney, chances are you’re always on the hunt for new clients. Traditionally referrals have been your main source for winning new clients, but over the last few years law videos have been gaining traction due to their ability to capture and retain viewer attention.
In today’s always-connected world, eyes are shifting online and new opportunities to win clients from places like YouTube have emerged. It’s estimated that by 2021 video will account for more than 80% of all IP traffic.
So if you’re don’t already have videos online you’re missing out on a huge opportunity (if you do make sure you’re doing everything you can do get them seen).
Most law firm videos are boring
Most law firm videos are mostly the same. They’re live-action (showing actual people speaking into a camera), and have scripts that start out with some form of the following: “If you or a loved one have been in an accident…”. While they are informative and better than not having one at all, they don’t really do much to help you stand out and be remembered when you need them to be.
Animated law firm videos help you stand out and help potential clients remember you when it matters.
What your law firm should be making instead are animated law firm videos that inform, educate and entertain. Custom animated videos have become popular in many industries, and up until recently the legal industry has been slow to catch on.
We’ve seen an increase in requests from law firms who are looking to use animation to help their marketing evolve and stand out, and if you aren’t already you should too.
Animated law firm videos stand out
Auto accidents are serious. So are workplace injuries. Animation and humor lightens the mood and makes scary topics like these more friendly and fun.
California-based attorneys Dennis and Paul Grossman, for example, partnered with us to produce a series of 30-second animated videos. Their videos live online and also play on Spanish-language TV channel Univision in Fresno region. The videos are simple, entertaining and incorporate our stickman and jibjab styles of animation, giving it a human touch.
In their auto accident commercial, for example, the Grossman duo heroically ride in on the scene on horseback to help a client whose just had a car accident. The attorneys go on to help the injured character with medical expenses, auto repairs and other damages, getting important points across in a fun and unique way.
The combination of audio, visuals and onscreen text make their law firm videos memorable. And research backs it up: studies have shown that people remember 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read, and 80% of what they see and hear.
Animated videos help your law firm get found
Uploading videos to YouTube and including proper titles, description and other metadata helps them get indexed by search engines so they appear in search results when people search for related keywords (YouTube is the world’s second largest search engine).
When people search for “[your town] attorney” or “Car Accident lawyer [your town]”, for example, your video can show up and help drive new clients to contact your law firm.
If you don’t have videos on YouTube, you’re missing out on a massive opportunity to reach potential clients.
Once your videos are on YouTube, be sure to optimize them every few months, by adding/removing video tags, add them to new playlists you may have created, and even consider running targeted ads to people matching your ideal demographic.
